Infusions

Since 1989, Athens Infusion has provided quality, patient-focused home infusion services to the local area as well as North Georgia communities.

Home infusion therapy involves patients receiving individualized doses of intravenous or subcutaneous medication to patients in their own home. Athens Infusion works closely with local nursing agencies who safely administer medication to our patients.

Drug therapies commonly received include: antibiotics, pain management, parenteral nutrition, enteral nutrition, gamma globulin, hydration, and AIDS treatment therapies.

Diagnoses commonly requiring infusion therapy include infections that are unresponsive to oral antibiotics, gastrointestinal diseases or disorders, immune disorders, cancer and cancer-related pain and more.

Why are infusions performed at home?

Home infusion allows individuals requiring long-term therapy to receive their medication in the comfort of their own home while eliminating the cost of a hospital stay. For most patients, receiving their treatment at home is preferable to inpatient care.
